FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know before we meet. Don't see your question? Just ask.

What areas do you serve?
Hop To It covers all neighborhoods in San Francisco for walks. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask — if we can get to you, we will. For dog & house-sitting at yours, we're open to traveling outside of SF for the right fit!
What services do you offer?
Dog walking, overnight boarding in our home, and house-sitting at yours. Whether your pup needs a midday stretch or a cozy place to stay while you're away, we've got you covered.
How many dogs do you walk or board at once?
On purpose, we keep it small. Walks are usually just your dog(s) to ensure everyone gets real attention and an outing that is focused on their specific needs. If requested and discussed first, Hop is happy to join on any walk! For boarding, we take just one guest dog at a time (plus Hop) — so your dog isn't lost in a pack, they're a guest in a home.
Do you require vaccinations?
Yes, always. Every dog needs to be up to date before their first visit — Rabies, Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and DHPP for overnight stays. A quick photo of the records from your vet is all we need. It keeps every dog safe.
Are you insured?
Yes. Hop To It SF carries pet-care liability and care-custody-control insurance, so your dog and your home are covered while they're with us.
What tools do you use with dogs?
My approach is simple: I follow your lead. Whatever tools you're already using with your dog, I'll use them too — consistency matters, and I'm not here to change what's working for your pup.

That said, I'm comfortable and experienced with a wide range of tools: flat collars, slip leads, prongs, e-collars, and fear-free methods. I don't have a rigid philosophy about any one approach — I've seen different tools work for different dogs, and what matters most to me is what works for yours.

How do meet-and-greets work?
Free in San Francisco, and $20 if outside of SF. Very low-key — we come say hello (or you come to us) and make sure everyone's a good fit before anything's booked. No pressure.
What if my dog has special needs or takes medication?
Totally fine — just tell us everything up front. Meds, anxieties, quirks, the works. The more we know, the better we care for them.
How do I book and pay?
Reach out through the contact form, and once we've met and your records are in, we'll lock in your dates. Payment is by Venmo, Zelle, or cash.
What's your cancellation policy?

Walks: Please cancel at least 48 hours in advance. Cancellations without 48-hour notice forfeit the full price of the booking.

Boarding: A 25% nonrefundable deposit is required upon booking to secure your dates. If services are canceled within 7 calendar days of the start date, an additional 15% is forfeited on top of the deposit.

What happens in an emergency?
Your dog's safety comes first. We'll always try to reach you immediately — and if we can't and your dog needs care, we'll get them to your vet or the nearest emergency vet right away. We collect your vet's info and an emergency contact at intake, just in case. All owners are responsible for any veterinary bills incurred while their dog is in our care.
